Skating @ Gutipll's Arena
Mar. 30th, 2013 02:29 pmYesterday, Rhianna and I took a long road trip with a group of friends, Zaida, José, David, Rick, Rick, Ryan, Ryan, Ryan, Joanne (yes, 2 Rick, 3 Ryans) to Guptill's Skating Arena in Cohoes, New York.

Guptill's Skating Arena is, according to their website, the World's Largest Indoor Roller Skating Rink. The floor was, indeed, the largest on which I've ever skated. There were two smaller skating areas, one set aside only for the smallest children, and another as a practice area, but the main skating floor was huge. We were told that the facilities haven't been altered (besides for upkeep of course) in 70 years. The decor was definitely reminiscent of a by-gone era.
They have a very crowded snack bar area, skate rentals, and an attached teen dance club.
Outside, in the same complex, was an ice cream vendor, selling cones and sundaes through a window. I had sugar-free black raspberry ice cream with sugar-free hot fudge sauce. It was yummy!
The staff and patrons at Guptill's were are all very friendly, and our crew made a few friends, with promises to come back and visit them again. There was even a roller derby girl practicing her skate moves on the floor (derby girls are HOT!).
