Xpostulate working on Win7

So, I currently have acces to a Win7 machine (you will recall that I'm a gnu/linux guy), and I've managed to get Xpostulate running on this platform.

Windows annoys the heck out of me, frankly, and I did have to make various changes to the program to make it work, but I have it working, and am posting this, now, with Xpostulate on said Win7 machine.

I will zip up a package for Windows users shortly, with installation instructions, etc., and post again.

A friendly message from Seattle PD

Apparently Seattle PD are handing out bags of Doritos at Hempfest, with this message adhered to them.

Like Violet (again)

Image/photo

You may recall that I reviewed Like Violet earlier this summer 9review here), having seen them for the first time at the New Haven Arts & Ideas Festival.

Well, they played tonight, a free show, at a local library branch, and, again, it was a great time!

I got a photo with the band! And a t-shirt!

So, I learned tonight that Cait and Carly were previously members of Kicking Daisies, a band that's played Warped Tour (funny...I missed them...we go every year, sometimes two or three different shows), and that Cait wrote a KD song that made #34 on the Billboard charts. Not only that, but Cait also holds the world's record for fastest female drummer!

Tonight's show was excellent, especially since they played longer than at Arts & Ideas, including a mini-acoustic set in the middle of the show, and showcased new material I had not heard before.

As before, Cait's clockwork and Carly's bass drove the songs, while Shaepes' soaring guitar work painted a masterpiece, all embellished by Carly's glowing vocals. These musicians are skilled writers and composers, and play a super-tight show.

I can hardly wait to see them again!

Rocksstar Mayhem

Yesterday, I saw some this, live (and ate an arseton of dirt in the Motionless in White mosh pit).

Motionless In White - "Devil's Night" Official Music Video by FearlessRecords on YouTube

Amon Amarth - Live Wacken Open Air 2012 [Full Concert] by DarkGoblin2007 on YouTube

Mastodon - The Hunter (Full Album) by Mike McCombe on YouTube

Revolver Golden Gods 2013 - Five Finger Death Punch - Lift Me Up by revolver on YouTube

Rob Zombie - Dead City Radio And The New Gods Of Supertown by RobZombieVEVO on YouTube

Butcher Babies - Mr. Slowdeath by ButcherBabiesMusic on YouTube

Highlights of the day, for me, were the Motionless in White set (and, as mentioned, brutal fucking mosh pit), and John 5's guitar solo during the Zombie set, meeting the Butcher Babies (pix later), and hanging with Chris Warner (drummer for Butcher Babies) after the show.

Also at the Rockstar Mayhem Festival were Born of Osiris, Huntress, Children of Bodom,

You know our priorities are deeply flawed when

military mercenary subcontractors make billions on "reconstruction" contracts to rebuild shite we bombed the fuck out of in nations that posed us no meaningful threat,
the insanely profitable oil industry receives billions in tax breaks and corporate subsidies and govt. handouts,
the government protects Monstanto's interests above that of the environment and the people, and hand them, again, billions in tax breaks and subsidies, etc., etc.
meanwhile,
efforts to find a cure for breast cancer, eliminate child sex trafficking, feed impoverished children have to call people and beg for money.
